Successful exit: The Safeguarding Company
The Octopus Ventures B2B software team is pleased to announce that on 6 March 2023, Apollo successfully exited one of our portfolio companies, The Safeguarding Company (TSC).
Apollo had a successful investment journey with TSC, making an initial investment in August 2019 of £3.2m, and then two further investments in January and December 2021, taking its total investment to £4.95m with an equity stake of 20%.
Since Apollo invested, TSC has almost doubled its headcount, and has expanded its product functionality, developing new modules to increase cross-sells, as well as initiating expansion into the US. The Company estimates its product protects over 1.25 million vulnerable people in more than 56 countries.
TSC has been acquired by Tes Global, a global provider of online educational services and software.
About The Safeguarding Company
TSC provides safeguarding software to schools and organisations in the UK and internationally.
One of the big challenges that caregivers face is sharing information that might help keep children and vulnerable adults safe. Organisations such as police, schools, social services and hospitals all use different systems, which means a lot of caregivers’ time is spent filling out manual paperwork to keep other organisations up to date. This process means information is easily lost or out of date, which can impact quality of care for those at risk. TSC helps solve this problem. Their software MyConcern allows staff to easily record, report and manage their wellbeing concerns. This reduces the risk of information loss and enables caregivers to spend more time caring for those that need them most.
“As well as being a really financially good investment, where we’ve exited the business and made a good return for our shareholders, it’s also a really purposeful business – a quality which is important to Octopus.”
